Local 488 Brother Jeff Schmidheini was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma two years ago at the age of 30. Currently there is no cure for this disease and Jeff is unable to work due to his illness. Jeff has recently been through his third stem cell transplant and the cancer only stayed in remission for three short weeks. He is now undergoing chemotherapy treatments and continues to be in and out of Yale New Haven Hospital.
Jeff and his wife Amy have two sons, Allen and Patrick ages 2 and 5 years old. This young family needs a helping hand to make ends meet. Medical expenses, travel costs including gas to go back and forth to treatments and hospitals, family expenses, car payments, regular household expenses and other bills have exhausted their bank account.

A new website has been developed by the IBEW Second District Office to help in the fight against the increasing number of anti-union legislative proposals submitted each year. Some examples of items that are constantly under attack are prevailing wage laws, licensing laws, and regulations pertaining to apprenticeship ratios. These laws if changed (for the worse), will have a negative impact on all working families, whether they are union members or not.
We are urging all of our members to sign up for this important website. Please also encourage your spouse, family and friends to sign up! It only takes a minute and you will be contacted when there is an issue that is important not only to the IBEW, but issues that affect all working families. From this site you will be able to email, contact, and forward important information to your state and federal representatives with a few simple clicks of your mouse. Don't hesitate. Please sign up now!!!
