IBEW 223 Debuts Cutting-Edge Membership System

IBEW 223 goes live with Next Generation Web Site and Online Member Database

IBEW 223, a union representing electrical workers and contractors in eastern Massachusetts, has gone live with a next generation web site that utilizes the CiviCRM web-based membership management system.

CiviCRM is a contact, fundraising and eCRM system that allows unions to record and manage information about members, contractors, legislators, activists, vendors and more. Submit and track dues payments, conversations, events or any type of correspondence with each constituent and store it in a web-accessible source.

In addition, the database's easy to use interface allows the union to keep in touch with important visitors to its web site and rapidly disseminate information to its key audiences, such as politicians, legislators, and the media. Optionally, these groups can sign up on the site to receive regular updates from the union, and be informed as IBEW 223 creates news.

Previously, members would have to wait months to learn about their union  news in the form of a printed newsletter. The new web site, according to Dave Fenton of 223, is a welcome addition to printed mateiral and allows members to stay in the loop in real-time.

Now, IBEW 223 is able to add news to the site on a real-time basis, and the site changes every day so that members are kept in the loop about important information.

Critical to IBEW 223's implementation of the CiviCRM database was the goal of improving its online services to members to facilitate easy address changes and a chance to identify, behind a password protected portion of the site, where they stand on a work referral list.

Members now are able to receive better service from their union in a more timely manner. And the union staff has been able to reduce the amount of its administrative work while focusing on putting its members back to work.

IBEW 223 worked closely with UWS to develop a solution that met both its needs and its budget, while dramatically increasing its adminstrative time savings and improving its overall communications.
