Occupy Update December 7, 2011

Siddhartha Mahanta writes in Mother Jones that President Obama is starting to talk about the same issues that OWS has been raising.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino says that Occupy Boston should focus on a certain issue and bring it to the politicians in Washington, DC. The Boston Globe says the encampment is raising important free speech issues.

US Representative Jerry Nadler, whose Congressional district includes Zuccotti Park, has called for the Department of Justice to investigate the police raid on OWS.

According to the NY Daily News, Brookfield Properties, the owners of Zuccotti Park, owes the city $139,000 in back taxes.

The “People's Mic” is moving beyond the Occupy movement.

Brent Budowsky, in a column for The Huffington Post, says that OWS is part of worldwide desire for change.

Finally, Jeff Price points out the similarities and differences between OWS and the Yippies in a story for The Faster Times.
