Union Web Services (UWS) provides high quality web site design, database implementation, maintenance services and content development to the labor movement.

We offer:

Union Web Services (UWS) exists to promote and further the goals of the labor movement by providing 21st century technologies, techniques, and tactics, including online tools that allow unions to reach their members and other constituents in the most cost-effective and direct manner possible. We do this while offering our workers the benefits of union membership. We constantly seek to improve working conditions for our clients and their members. Ultimately, it is our goal that our tools and services will revitalize the labor movement in the US and beyond. All UWS workers are members of Communications Workers of America, Local 1180.

The dust hasn't settled yet on Occupy Oakland, either in terms of who did what at City Hall or the way forward. Claims and reactions to alleged Police Brutality have marred the mostly non-violent movement. Huffpost has analysis.

January 27, 2012 : Protesters Move Inside, Occupy Foreclosures and Vacancies

Occupy DC has been given word by Park Rangers to clear out by Monday. The protesters claim they are ready to “defend their turf,” while the Washington Post asks – should they? Meanwhile from Switzerland the Post is reporting that the Head of the Forum is calling on Occupy Davos protesters to meet with him directly while the UN human rights chief Navi Pillay says they should be heard in the main area, not as part of a special event. Stay tuned.


January 26, 2012 : Davos Continues, Prez Speech Contained Occupy Themes


Keeping on Davos, CNN asks if Occupy and Davos are Polar opposites or future partners? What would happen if Soros and billionaire buds grew concerned enough about income equality to put their money where their mouth is. CNN also has a nice piece that takes us inside the igloos and actually talks to some of the Occupy campers.

Commentators, political pooh-bahs, and pundits, whether they liked the State of the Union or not, all seem to agree : Occupy is behind the themes of income inequality the Prez seems to be staking his re-election on as he tries to "shore up his base." San Francisco Bay Guardain analyzes this phenomenon.

January 25, 2012 : Occupy Igloos Up at Davos

New encampment for Occupy : the latest Occupy tent to go up is an igloo at the World Economic Forum (WEF) conference in Davos. Wall Street Journal says self-appointed representatives of the 99% have made the trek from as far as Texas.
