Union Web Services (UWS) provides high quality web site design, database implementation, maintenance services and content development to the labor movement.

We offer:

Union Web Services (UWS) exists to promote and further the goals of the labor movement by providing 21st century technologies, techniques, and tactics, including online tools that allow unions to reach their members and other constituents in the most cost-effective and direct manner possible. We do this while offering our workers the benefits of union membership. We constantly seek to improve working conditions for our clients and their members. Ultimately, it is our goal that our tools and services will revitalize the labor movement in the US and beyond. All UWS workers are members of Communications Workers of America, Local 1180.

According to organizer Marisa Holmes, a member of OWS' May Day planning committee, the goal is to “kick off the Spring Offensive and go directly to where the financial elite play and plan.” Media commentators like Mother Jones and The Atlantic chip in with analysis, saying for Occupy, the stakes are high.

April 25, 2012 : 99 Percent Crash GE, Wells Fargo, Brooklyn Parents Plan to Occupy

The Prez is making the media rounds to kick off his re-election bid, with the latest stop at Rolling Stone, where he sits down (for an hour) with long-time Jagger groupie and RS Publisher Jann Wenner. The Prez says Occupy is “part of a broader anxiety” while mentioning that he remains a champ of the “free market system.” Content.usatoday.com

April 20, 2012 : Occupy Foreclosures is Worldwide, Yes Men Prank Hits BofA

Occupier tactics take all forms. The more creative the better, at least for this space. Yes Men hit another home run with a bogus press release announcing that BofA was soliciting ideas from the public as to what they would do once they owned the Bank. The release included authentic logos, fake content, and an alleged advertising campaign. The release, sent under fake Busineswire auspices, looked genuine enough for Dow Jones News wires to publish it, briefly. Yeslab.org

Southside Chicago Woodlawn Clinic : As noted, Occupy moves on many fronts, spinning off various advocacy and protest groups, carried out by citizens of all stripes who act on issues they have identified in their community. Salon.com gets top billing, as they carry an in-depth reports and videos of the Occupation, carried out by supporters and advocates who barricaded themselves inside the clinic to demanded a meeting with political noble Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
